About Feastimate

Feastimate is a free set of instant party and event quantity calculators. Tell each tool how many guests you expect and a few details about the crowd, and it immediately turns that into a concrete shopping list: how many 12 oz cans and 750 ml bottles to chill, how many pounds of meat to put on the smoker, how many bags of ice to grab, how many plates and napkins to stack at the buffet, and roughly what the whole event should cost.

Why Feastimate exists

Every host knows the two classic ways a party plan goes wrong. Buy too much, and you spend the next week eating leftover pulled pork while half-finished soda cases gather dust in the garage. Buy too little, and you become the host slipping out mid-celebration for an emergency store run, hoping nobody notices the empty drink tub. Professional caterers avoid both problems with simple per-person planning ratios — but those numbers are usually scattered across trade manuals, forum threads and decade-old blog posts. Feastimate packages them into clean calculators, so an answer that used to take twenty minutes of searching and napkin math now takes about ten seconds.

How the numbers are calculated

Our formulas are practical rules of thumb used by caterers and event planners — not laboratory science. The drinks calculator, for example, assumes an average guest has about two drinks in the first hour and one in each hour after that. The BBQ calculator plans around roughly a third of a pound of cooked meat per adult and accounts for cooking shrinkage. The ice calculator works from one to two pounds of ice per guest depending on how hot the day is. Every calculator page states its exact formula in plain English, so you can sanity-check the math and nudge the results for your own crowd: heavy eaters, light drinkers, blazing afternoons or long receptions.

Free, instant and private

Feastimate is completely free. There is no sign-up, no account, no app to install and no hidden "premium" tier. Every calculation runs as JavaScript right in your browser, so results are instant and nothing you type is uploaded or stored on a server. When you are done, one click prints a clean shopping list you can take straight to the store.

Get in touch

Feastimate is a small independent project, and it improves fastest when real hosts tell us how the estimates held up. If a quantity felt way off, if you have a better rule of thumb from your own events, or if you would like a new calculator entirely, please send us a message. You can also read our privacy policy and terms of service — both are short and written in plain English, like everything else here.
